Helping Up Mission is a community of dedicated workers that provide adult men with shelter and recovery services against substance abuse. They offer their services at various levels such as personal growth opportunities, recovery and treatment services, and housing services. This facility offers inpatient service to individuals of the Portland community, through which they can get substance abuse counseling and treatment service in the on-site facility. This service is also offered to the clients on an individual basis, where each is the focus of the staff. They also provide shelter services to the homeless and relapse prevention services as special services. They also use detoxification services at the beginning of their treatment plan to rid the body of the client of any harmful substances.nFor substance abuse treatment, residential long term (more than thirty days of care) treatment, detox, sober living, halfway housing, and aftercare, effective help and means can be arrived at for beating drug and alcohol addiction effectively and permanently. The Helping Up Mission is an excellent rehab center for triumphing over drug and alcohol addiction and for winning the battle in the long run.nSince 1885, Helping Up Mission has been coming to the aid of Baltimore City’s poor and homeless. During the last half of the twentieth century, the Mission narrowed its focus to serving the spiritual and physical needs of the city’s men who were poor and homeless.nnYet, to really support these men, in the 1990’s, the Mission began a long-term residential Spiritu`l Recovery Program for men with drug and alcohol addiction. Today, our 12-month residential Spiritual Recovery Program set in a 12 Step therapeutic community is the centerpiece of Helping Up Mission’s efforts – focusing on the intellectual, physical, social and spiritual needs of every man we serve.nnOur campus extents the entire 1000 block of East Baltimore Street (the south side!). Over the past decade we have renovated over 95,000 square feet in three buildings which now house our Spiritual Recovery Program and the other services Helping Up Mission offers.nThe Helping Up Mission is a faith-based, very helpful, Christian-oriented drug and alcohol addiction treatment center in the Baltimore, Maryland area.
