The Ketchikan Indian Community provides services for non-Native and Alaska Native families, adults, children, and teens. Substance abuse treatment programs include outpatient services, behavioral health programs, mental health counseling, and community support programs and services.
Ketchikan, Alaska is a small town with few inhabitants. However, it acts to support a much larger rural community, and as there is a high percentage of per capita addiction in Alaska there are quite a few addiction crisis issues in even a small town like Ketchikan. This is where the Ketchikan Indian Community Tribal Clinic Behavioral Health Dept comes into play. This center operates mostly off of an outpatient basis and provides support and help to those who suffer with either drug or alcohol addiction or both. The program utilizes a very holistic, Native American approach to drug and alcohol addiction that is quite different from the standard approach to addiction treatment that is practiced in the contiguous states.
