About this center

Link House is a residential recovery program for adult men working to overcome substance use disorder in Newburyport, Massachusetts. Operated by Link House Inc and in operation since 1972, it offers a structured, twenty-four-hour supervised setting for up to twenty men, most of whom complete the program in about six months, with the option to stay longer when needed. The program is licensed and partially funded through the Massachusetts Department of Public Health’s Bureau of Substance Abuse Services.

A Structured Residential Program for Men in Newburyport

Link House provides a stable, supervised environment where men commit to abstinence from drugs, alcohol, and other addictive behaviors while they focus on building a foundation for recovery. Daily life is highly structured, combining self-help and twelve-step meetings with daily group programming and access to community supports. This routine is designed to give residents consistency and accountability, helping them establish the healthy habits that sustain long-term sobriety.

Therapy and Individualized Case Management

The program pairs its group structure with more personalized support through individual and group therapy that helps men address the issues underlying their addiction. Ongoing case management is central to the approach, with treatment individualized and tailored to each resident’s needs and goals. Drawing on evidence-based substance use services, the program works to meet men where they are and adjust support as they progress through their recovery.

Community, Employment, and Independent Living

Link House places strong emphasis on reintegration and productive living as part of recovery. Residents take part in recreational outings and activities and are encouraged to engage in community service, while employment is permitted after the first five months as men regain stability. Shared living spaces, including a common kitchen, community room, and computer lab, support a communal, home-like atmosphere that helps residents prepare for a self-sufficient life beyond the program.
