MATR Behavioral Health - Mt. Pleasant

CREDENTIALS: RN, CPSS

MATR Behavioral Health, is a private, non-profit Substance Use Disorder Treatment Program focused on assisting individuals addicted to drugs, alcohol and/or human behaviors, which cause a less than successful life experience, to understand themselves and to gain tools for healing. We also frequently work with individuals experiencing co-existing diagnosis. Addiction and mental health disorders tend to create chaos in lives. MATR strives to remain appraised of the most current and effective methods of holistic treatment available. It is MATR intent to provide the best professionally, clinically, and morally sound modalities for healing possible to assist troubled clients and their families in improving their quality of life.

MATR Behavioral Health is JRI (MH/SUD) Justice Certified and offers Licensed Social Detox, Licensed Intensive Inpatient for Substance Abuse Treatment, and Licensed Substance Abuse Treatment/Mental Health for Outpatient services. We also offer Prime For Life (DUI course), Anger Management, Relapse Prevention, and aftercare meetings. MATR’s mission is holistic change. We accomplish this by utilizing a unique multiple approach to healing which includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Neuro-Linguistic Programming, principles of hypnotherapy and Holographic Human Transformation Theory.  This allows us to assist people with a variety of needs. MATR teaches whenever a problem exists, the answer can be found within the individual involved. Therefore, MATR works to first, assist each client to believe "there is hope”, and then teach each client the skills to discover their true self, and thereafter, the answers which lie within. MATR strives to maintain a sense of individuality with each client and staff member to facilitate an atmosphere which embraces a healing environment where each person is taught to honor self and others.

A Brief History of MATR: MATR was founded in June of 1993 by Linda Dimmick and Janey Marvin. MATR began first with Youth Corrections and Division of Child and Family Services. In 1997, MATR opened its first adult facility, obtaining state licensure for both mental health and substance abuse. Licenses have varied some over the years, sometimes including domestic violence, treatment for youth, and sometimes focusing only on services for the abuse of substances. Also, MATR focuses on creating, providing, selling, and teaching media for the purpose of self-knowledge and self-healing. Workshops are available for the general public to access the training of materials such as those being taught at MATR. CD's, books and DVD's are also available.
