The New Life Center’s Adult Men’s Program on Walmsley Boulevard in Richmond, VA is a long-term residential recovery environment for men whose alcohol, drug or other life-controlling behaviors have begun to seriously affect the life they’re still living: housing stability, work, family roles, emotional health and daily functioning. This program is part of New Life For Adults and Youth, a faith-based recovery community focused on transformation through structured daily living, mentoring, life-skills development, and spiritual engagement rather than isolated clinical appointments.
A Residential Setting When Stability Has Slipped
Men typically arrive here after repeated attempts to manage substance use on their own or in less structured settings have not held and consequences are showing up in routines that matter. The program places residents in a controlled, substance-free, live-in environment where recovery work is embedded in everyday life rather than confined to sessions.
Daily Life Anchored in Structure, Support and Growth
Recovery in this setting unfolds through structured schedules, peer accountability, mentorship, group and individual support, life skills and workforce readiness, and spiritual or personal development elements. Participants engage in practice-oriented routines that help them unpack patterns of use, strengthen coping strategies, and rebuild responsibility, with clear connection to how change plays out in life outside residence.
A Multi-Phase Journey Toward Greater Stability
The Adult Men’s Program typically spans 9–12 months, giving men the time to work through deep-rooted patterns and build habits that can hold up in the real world. There are multiple levels of care, including residential care phases, educational and vocational work, and leadership or extended support for those ready to deepen their recovery and prepare for long-term reintegration.
A Place for Men Ready to Rebuild
This residential setting tends to be used by men whose substance use has become deeply intertwined with daily life and whose previous attempts at change have not lasted. It suits those who are ready for extended, structured support lived through routine, accountability and community engagement, helping them strengthen the stability they still need in work, relationships and personal growth.
