About this center

Positive Recovery Services is an outpatient substance use counseling center with an office in Germantown, Maryland. The center provides alcohol and drug treatment for adults aged 18 and older, with services available statewide across Maryland. Treatment is built around evidence-based strategies combining education, processing, and relapse prevention, with intake assessments typically completed within 24 to 48 hours of referral. The practice accepts Maryland Medicaid.

Outpatient and Intensive Outpatient Programs

Positive Recovery Services offers two levels of outpatient care. The standard outpatient program provides up to nine hours of services per week over a typical duration of 26 weeks, while the intensive outpatient program delivers nine to 20 hours per week with a minimum duration of eight weeks. Both tracks include individual and group therapy sessions ranging from 15 to 60 minutes, with individualized treatment plans that address biopsychosocial factors including mental health, employment, legal issues, trauma, and vocational needs. A licensed counselor completes a biopsychosocial assessment during the initial evaluation to determine the appropriate level of care. Urinalysis testing is available, and the center also offers DUI/DWI classes conducted online via Zoom, along with tele-counseling through secure, HIPAA-compliant video sessions for clients who cannot attend in person.
