Primrose Hill Adult & Teen Challenge is a 12-month faith-based residential recovery program in Clark, Missouri, for women 18 and older, including mothers who bring their young children with them. The program occupies a 5,700-square-foot home on 43 acres in north central Missouri.
A Year of Recovery for Women and Their Children
What sets Primrose Hill apart is that mothers don’t have to choose between recovery and their children. It’s one of only about a dozen Adult & Teen Challenge centers nationwide where women can keep their children with them during the program, so families heal together rather than apart. The program’s aim is for each woman to build a stable life spiritually, emotionally, physically, and financially. Residents are called students, not clients, because the year is about learning a different way to live. Women are given room to face the choices that hurt them, with biblical principles and the support of staff guiding that work. Days include chapel services, Christian education classes, church attendance, mentoring, work programs, prayer, and personal devotions. Students also run a small business making and selling handmade beauty products, which gives them practical work experience and a share in something they build together.
Applying to the Program
The first step is completing a student application, which can be submitted by phone, fax, email, or mail. Staff then arrange a phone interview and set an intake date once a bed is available. Along with the application, the center provides a student handbook laying out what’s expected and the privileges students can earn over the course of the year, plus a list of what to bring.
