Renovation House is a long-term, faith-based residential recovery program in Spencer, New York that supports men and women (separately) whose alcohol, drug or other life-controlling behaviors have deeply disrupted daily life, relationships, work and wellbeing. Rather than short clinical stops, this setting is designed as an immersive, 12-month discipleship training environment where recovery work, spiritual growth and daily responsibilities are woven together in everyday living.
A Year of Transformation Through Structure, Work and Community
The core of Renovation House’s approach is a 12-month live-in residential program rooted in Christian discipleship, structure and accountability. Participants live onsite and spend each day in a blend of classes, chapel services, work practicums, recreational activities and peer support, creating a rhythm that connects recovery work with real-world routines. Departmental schedules and duties on the property, from gardens and workshops to maintenance tasks, help individuals develop responsibility, resilience and positive habits that extend beyond treatment.
Faith-Anchored Healing and Personal Development
Rather than isolating treatment into short appointments, Renovation House embeds group learning, spiritual teachings, life-skills training and community engagement into daily life. Biblical study and fellowship are central, and opportunities for individual counseling and reflection are available for those who request them. This holistic, long-term care model emphasizes personal insight, behavioral change and rooted support through shared living and faith-based guidance.
Separate Men’s and Women’s Homes Within a Supportive Campus
The program operates distinct men’s and women’s residential homes on its Upstate NY campus, offering a safe, substance-free environment that’s intentionally removed from temptations and distractions. The setting, over 160 acres with trails, ponds and therapeutic work opportunities, supports a break from previous environments while building community connection, accountability and a focus on lasting change.
