Right Turn-IMPACT is an addiction treatment center in Eldersburg, Maryland, offering a continuum of care that includes residential partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient programming, ambulatory detoxification, and sober living. The center has worked with Maryland’s judicial system for over thirty years, having opened in 1992 as the state’s first correctional DWI facility, and its treatment programs are CARF accredited and Maryland state approved. Right Turn-IMPACT provides treatment for adults with substance use disorders using methods aligned with SAMHSA standards.
Residential and Intensive Outpatient Treatment
The center’s residential partial hospitalization program is a CARF-accredited ASAM Level 2.5 program that begins with a comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment to identify each client’s individual needs. Daily programming includes psychotherapeutic and psychoeducational groups, holistic wellness groups, relapse prevention sessions, sober support groups, and recreational activities, all led by licensed counselors under the supervision of the clinical director. The program is supervised by a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and clients meet with their assigned counselor weekly throughout their stay. A Work Release Intensive Outpatient Program, classified at ASAM Level 2.1, allows eligible clients to reside on campus while maintaining employment, with twelve hours of weekly group programming that mirrors the PHP structure along with daily breathalyzer testing and random urinalysis.
Ambulatory Detox and Court-Related Programs
Right Turn-IMPACT provides an ambulatory detoxification program overseen by a Medical Director specializing in addiction medicine, with clients who require a higher level of medical care transported to Carroll Hospital for stabilization before returning to treatment on site. The center also operates the Weekend Intervention Program, a court-recognized 48-hour in-house jail alternative where participants are confined under direct supervision while receiving education on substance use and impaired driving. DUI education and early intervention services are available for individuals showing early signs of alcohol or drug misuse, and the center maintains active court liaison services, providing progress reports and working directly with the judicial system on behalf of clients.
Sober Living and Aftercare
The center operates four sober living houses, three for men in Eldersburg, Owings Mills, and Pikesville, and one for women in Pikesville, where residents follow house rules, attend mandatory meetings, participate in a sober support program, and submit to ongoing testing. An aftercare program is offered in 12, 26, or 48-week tracks, providing weekly monitoring, peer support, and continued accountability during the transition back to daily life. Transition planning also connects clients with resources for sober support groups, therapists, and outpatient treatment options.
