Sobriety First Treatment Center has an office in Saint Francis, Minnesota, where clients can get outpatient addiction treatment, substance use assessments, recovery coaching, counseling, and court-required education classes. Appointments at this office are scheduled in advance.
Getting Help at the Saint Francis Office
New clients come in for a confidential assessment first, and the results guide a treatment plan written for that individual. For those who need structure, the intensive outpatient program meets in three-hour group sessions with daytime and evening choices, moving through three phases that gradually lighten to a single weekly session. An aftercare phase is available afterward for people who want to keep going and help others in recovery. Support comes from a care team rather than one person: a primary counselor, a behavioral health practitioner, a recovery coach, and a mental health provider when that’s called for. Clients who need less intensity can do standard outpatient counseling or work individually with a recovery coach. There’s also a cognitive skills course open to current clients, based on Moral Reconation Therapy, a step-by-step method for improving judgment and accountability, taught through a combination of face-to-face and online meetings.
Required Classes and Family Education
The Saint Francis office is one of the sites where in-person alcohol, other drug, and impaired driving education is offered on Saturdays, with different class lengths available depending on the requirement a person needs to satisfy. A separate impaired driving course runs online at two levels and uses cognitive behavioral lessons to encourage responsible driving. Anger management is taught weekly online to mixed groups using reality therapy, which centers on personal choices, and domestic abuse classes meet weekly online in separate men’s and women’s groups that satisfy Minnesota law. Family members are welcome at monthly sessions held at each office, where they learn about addiction and practice communication skills such as “I” statements and reflective listening. With assessments and several classes available by video, clients can take part from home when getting to the office isn’t practical.
