The Hope Center – Men’s Recovery Program

Updated on: 5 August 2026

About this center

The Hope Center Men’s Recovery Program is a long-term, peer-driven residential recovery program for men in Lexington, Kentucky. Operating since 1996 out of the George Privett Recovery Center for Men, the program has served more than 5,000 men struggling with substance use disorder. The Hope Center combines professional supervision with evidence-based recovery tools and the support of a strong community, and the program is provided at no direct cost to clients, funded through state support and community donations.

Recovery Model and Curriculum

The Men’s Recovery Program is built on the Recovery Dynamics curriculum, integrating the 12-step model with peer mentorship, accountability, and life skills training. The residential program runs nine to twelve months, with entry through the Safe Off the Streets component, which provides immediate shelter and stability for men beginning their recovery journey. Relapse prevention is woven throughout the program, and graduates serve as peer mentors to current residents, creating a cycle of support that reinforces the community-driven approach. Workforce training and life skills development prepare men to build independence as they progress through the program.

Additional Recovery Services

The Hope Center operates several other recovery and treatment programs alongside the Men’s Recovery Program. A separate CARF-accredited residential treatment program at the Don and Cathy Jacobs House provides a 30-day intensive experience at ASAM Level 3.1, staffed by a multidisciplinary team of licensed therapists, a registered nurse, and peer support specialists, and treats co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders using evidence-based practices including cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, acceptance and commitment therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and the Matrix Model. An intensive outpatient program is also available, offering group therapy and educational 12-step support led by behavioral health clinicians with expertise in addiction services.
