The Salvation Army Boston Adult Rehabilitation Center is a faith-based residential recovery program for adults in Saugus, Massachusetts. Part of The Salvation Army’s national network of Adult Rehabilitation Centers, it serves men and women whose lives have been affected by substance abuse, pairing Christian ministry with a structured program of work-based rehabilitation. In keeping with the Adult Rehabilitation Centers model, the program is generally provided at no cost to the participants it accepts.
A Faith-Based Residential Work-Therapy Program
The center follows The Salvation Army’s Adult Rehabilitation Centers approach, a residential program of roughly one hundred eighty days that places work therapy at the heart of recovery. Participants take part in a daily work-therapy assignment, generally up to eight hours a day, intended to help them rebuild strong work habits along with a renewed sense of dignity and independence. Grounded in Christian faith, the program asks residents to engage fully in its activities and to develop a personal relationship with God as part of their recovery. Admission is open to adults who are able to commit to a structured, substance-free environment and to the full scope of the program.
Counseling, Classes, and Spiritual Support
Alongside work therapy, residents receive group and individual counseling and spiritual direction, together with classes and worship services that form part of the daily routine. This combination is meant to provide spiritual, social, and emotional support while residents build the life skills and employment readiness needed for a stable future. The overall aim is to help each participant overcome reliance on substances and regain the dignity, independence, and healthy routines that support lasting recovery.
