The Salvation Army Great Lakes Harbor Light, Detroit Campus, is a substance use treatment center in Detroit, Michigan, offering a full continuum of care for individuals and families beginning their recovery. Operated by The Salvation Army, it pairs clinical addiction treatment with compassionate, faith-informed support, guiding each person through an individualized care plan shaped around their needs.
Levels of Care
Care at the Detroit Harbor Light spans the full range of addiction treatment. Detox provides a short, supervised first step, generally lasting three to five days, to help individuals begin recovery safely. From there, residential treatment offers a stay of 10 to 90 days built around individual, group, and family therapy along with peer support. For those who do not need residential care or are stepping down from it, intensive outpatient services combine treatment with recovery housing, while standard outpatient care offers flexible daytime, evening, and weekend scheduling to fit around work and family responsibilities. Case management runs throughout, connecting clients to the additional services that support their recovery goals.
A Coordinated, Individualized Path to Recovery
Getting started is designed to be simple and welcoming, beginning with a call or walk-in visit to meet a Care Coordinator. After an initial assessment, the Care Coordinator discusses services tailored to the individual’s needs, and each person is then paired with a Recovery Care Team dedicated to helping them rebuild every aspect of their life. Guided by an individualized care plan and treated with respect and compassion, individuals and their families are supported through each stage of the recovery process.
A Wraparound Continuum of Care
Beyond clinical treatment, the Detroit Harbor Light surrounds clients with a broad continuum of supportive services designed to address the whole person. These include peer counseling, case management, pastoral care, grief counseling, on-site legal aid, emergency social services, and support for co-occurring needs, along with access to AA and NA support groups. A dedicated women’s specialty program provides gender-specific care for women in recovery. This combination of treatment and support is designed to help people rebuild stable, healthy lives.
