Participants enter a 180-day, substance-free residential program that addresses both the practical and personal dimensions of addiction. Alongside work therapy, the program provides individual and group counseling, spiritual direction, life skills education, and recreational activities. In the final phase of the program, staff work with participants on employment preparation, covering resume writing, interview techniques, and professional conduct.
Admission and Residential Support
There is no cost to participate, and insurance is not required. Housing, meals, and supportive services are provided for the duration of the six-month stay. The program is open to individuals who are assessed as appropriate for the residential model, and the goal is to help each participant build the foundation for stable, independent, and productive living after graduation. Operations at the Waukegan ARC are funded in part through donations sold at area Salvation Army thrift stores.
