Victory Programs is a Boston, Massachusetts nonprofit that has provided recovery services since its founding in 1975, operating a range of programs that serve people at different stages of recovery and from many walks of life. Its services span residential recovery homes tailored to specific populations as well as community-based, peer-led support, all built around education, practical tools, and ongoing encouragement. The organization frequently works with individuals whose substance use is complicated by challenges such as chronic illness, co-occurring disorders, or homelessness, and it shapes its programs to meet that variety of needs.
Residential Recovery Programs for Different Populations
Victory Programs offers several residential recovery homes, each designed with a particular population in mind. New Victories and Victory House provide residential recovery for men, while New Joelyn’s Home offers a co-ed setting that welcomes cisgender women and members of the LGBTQ+ community. Shepherd House serves pregnant women and mothers with infants, giving priority placement to families beginning recovery together. For those with more complex needs, Women’s Hope is a co-occurring enhanced residence supporting women who are managing co-occurring disorders alongside substance use, and LARC, the Living and Recovery Community, is a co-ed home for men and women, including those contending with chronic health conditions, co-occurring disorders, or homelessness.
Shared Services and Approach
Across its residential programs, Victory Programs provides a consistent foundation of support that includes case management, individual and group counseling, congregate meals, meditation, art therapy, and recreational activities, along with referrals to medical, perinatal, and other supportive care. The overall approach centers on giving residents the education, tools, and ongoing support they need to address their substance use, prevent and manage relapse, and build toward greater independence. This wraparound model reflects the organization’s focus on treating the whole person rather than addiction alone.
Community-Based and Peer Recovery Support
Beyond its residential homes, Victory Programs extends recovery support into the community. The Jamaica Plain Recovery Center is a peer-led center open to anyone navigating addiction recovery, offering recovery support groups, wellness activities, life-skills workshops, and yoga in a welcoming, community setting. The organization also provides Peer Recovery Coach Services, pairing individuals with community-based coaches who offer guidance and encouragement throughout the recovery journey. Together these services give people options for support whether or not they are in a residential program.
