Accreditations

These accreditations/certifications help indicate whether a treatment center meets recognized standards for quality, safety, and ethical practices. While no single credential guarantees outcomes, together they provide useful context when evaluating a provider.

CARF Accredited

About this center

Way Back Inn is a CARF-accredited and state-licensed addiction treatment provider operating extended residential care facilities in the Chicago metropolitan area, including two houses in Maywood, Illinois. The organization serves individuals recovering from alcohol, drug, and gambling dependencies using a holistic model that combines clinical therapy, peer support, and life skills development. Staff include board-certified physicians, clinical psychologists, master’s-level and licensed counselors, certified gambling specialists, and registered dietitians.

Extended Residential Care

The extended residential care program offers a structured living environment for individuals in early recovery, with stays ranging from approximately ninety days to one year based on individual needs. The program operates as a less restrictive alternative to inpatient treatment, allowing residents to leave the facility for employment, volunteering, and support meetings while observing nightly curfews and a schedule of therapeutic activities. Daily programming includes individual and group therapy, house meetings, and recovery-focused activities, with counseling centered on relapse prevention, emotional regulation, and life skills training. Treatment draws on multiple modalities, including process therapy, group didactics, art, music, yoga, spirituality, and 12-step support. Residents share household responsibilities such as meal preparation and chores, fostering a community-based atmosphere built on trust and cooperation.

Recovery Pathway and Additional Services

Upon completing extended residential care, residents may transition to Way Back Inn’s recovery homes for continued support as they reintegrate into employment, education, and family life. The organization also operates the Young Adult Recovery Home Program for individuals aged eighteen to twenty-four affected by opioid and stimulant use, and is one of a limited number of Illinois providers offering extended residential care for gambling disorder. A free weekly family psychoeducation and therapy group is open to all community members, helping loved ones better understand addiction and its impact on the family system.
