About this center

Way Back Inn is a holistic addiction treatment provider with an extended residential care facility in Oak Park, Illinois, along with additional houses in nearby Maywood. The organization holds CARF accreditation and State of Illinois licensure, and its clinical team includes board-certified physicians, clinical psychologists, licensed counselors, certified gambling specialists, and registered dietitians. Way Back Inn serves adults in early recovery from alcohol, drug, and gambling dependencies across the Chicago metropolitan area.

Residential Treatment and Clinical Approach

The Oak Park extended residential care program provides a supportive, structured living environment with lengths of stay from roughly ninety days up to one year, adjusted to each resident’s progress. The model balances therapeutic structure with real-world engagement, as residents are permitted to work, volunteer, and attend community support meetings outside the facility while maintaining curfews and participating in scheduled programming. Clinical services include individual and group counseling focused on relapse prevention, emotional regulation, and coping skills, complemented by process therapy, 12-step integration, and wellness activities including art, music, and yoga. Residents contribute to the daily operations of the household through shared cooking, chores, and community meetings, creating a cooperative living environment designed to reinforce accountability and interpersonal skills.

Broader Programs and Community Resources

After completing extended residential care, residents may move into Way Back Inn’s recovery homes to continue building stability in employment, education, and personal relationships. The organization is also among a small number of Illinois providers with extended residential care specifically for gambling disorder, and offers statewide outpatient gambling treatment through telehealth. Way Back Inn’s young adult recovery home program serves eighteen- to twenty-four-year-olds affected by opioid and stimulant use with peer support, vocational training, and access to medication-assisted recovery. A free weekly family group open to all community members provides psychoeducation and therapy on how addiction affects the family system.
