The Wells House, Inc. is a residential continuing care treatment facility, traditionally called a halfway house, that provides structure and support services for adult men in the early stages of recovery from chemical dependency. Our mission is to provide intensive treatment services to clients that have an honest desire to remain drug and alcohol free and are motivated to maintain a productive, healthy lifestyle.
Our treatment program is science-based incorporating the disease concept of chemical dependency along with twelve-step recovery program participation as an adjunct, which helps to compliment and extend the effects of our professional treatment. Each resident has a treatment program tailored to his personal situation and individual needs. This program includes an in-depth biopsychosocial assessment with individualized treatment planning followed by individual, group and family counseling, referrals for rehabilitation and educational training, coordination of aftercare treatment services, and assistance in utilization of community resources for employment, medical/mental health or legal issues.
Founded in 1976, the Wells House is a private, non-profit corporation originally named the Talent House. In 1984, it was reincorporated and renamed in honor of the late Norman Wells, an early founder and benefactor. At present, the Wells House admits approximately fifty men a year.
