Drug & Alcohol Abuse Services by Gender and Age in Connecticut

Gender and age specific drug treatment services in Connecticut will be programs that will treat men only and those who treat women only. Any type of drug rehab center who is age specific will often be for teens or adolescents, and services for older adults and seniors. It is not uncommon for senior adults to struggle with alcohol addiction problems and addiction to prescription drugs. In fact, three times more women who are 65 years old and older will seek out treatment for prescription-drug addiction. Gender-specific drug treatment can either be inpatient or outpatient, and a variety of treatment methods are used. Women who are pregnant, or women who have suffered domestic violence, and are addicted to drugs can benefit from women only treatment programs. Men who attend drug rehab are more likely to open-up with other men around during group therapy. Drug rehabs for teens and adolescents are good options to help young adults through a difficult time.
