Drug & Alcohol Addiction Services for the LGBTQ Community in Connecticut

Drug rehabilitation programs are designed to meet the needs of their clients and ensure they can address all aspects of his or her addiction. For members of the LGBTQ community living in Connecticut, they may want to attend LGBTQ specific treatment services. This type of program would be a center who would be sensitive to the needs of members of this community, meaning there would be specific counseling and therapy to help address the underlying issues connected to the addiction. Roughly 20 to 30% of people who identify as LGBTQ do struggle with some type of substance use disorder. There are often many reasons why someone would become addicted to drugs and or alcohol. In many cases, this is because of some type of emotional or physical pain; members of the LGBTQ community will often face emotional or physical abuse because of their sexual orientation. This type of abuse can lead to drug addiction, as a means of coping with the pain.
