Drug & Alcohol Addiction Services for the LGBTQ Community in Delaware

The many different drug treatment services and programs in Delaware can help with any type of drug or alcohol problem, regardless of the severity. Members of the LGBTQ community who are struggling with drug addiction can reach out to local treatment services for help. Some of the drug treatment services in the state may provide specific programs for LGBTQ people, which means these are counseling and therapy for the issues that do impact members of this community. Roughly 20 to 30% of people who are LGBTQ will suffer from some type of drug or alcohol addiction. Gay men are over 12 times more likely to abuse amphetamines, for example. There are often various reasons why someone would choose to abuse drugs and alcohol, and for LGTBQ people, it can be because of the emotional or physical abuse they may experience because of their sexual orientation. In other cases, substance abuse merely happens out of pure boredom and as something to do. It is important to find the proper drug treatment services in the state to treat the addiction.
