Drug & Alcohol Addiction Services for the LGBTQ Community in Michigan

There are many reasons why members of the LGBTQ community in Michigan would choose to abuse drugs and alcohol. In some cases, this could be because of emotional or physical abuse, discrimination, being shunned or rejected from family and friends, or struggling with other mental-health problems. Substance abuse is a dangerous problem, and without the proper help, the addiction will become progressively worse. Drug rehabilitation centers in Michigan can help treat any type of drug problem, regardless of how severe the addiction is. Even casual drug use can lead to serious addiction and roughly 20 to 30% of the LGBTQ community struggle with some type of substance use disorder. For example, around 25% of LGBTQ people will battle alcohol dependency, and when you start to abuse alcohol, this will lead to the abuse of other drugs, such as cocaine, heroin, or prescription pills.
