Drug & Alcohol Addiction Services for the LGBTQ Community in New Mexico

Many members of the LGBTQ community do face challenges, and some of these struggles can lead to substance abuse. LGBTQ people in New Mexico who are struggling with addiction can find help through local treatment programs and services, such as inpatient or outpatient drug rehab centers. The treatment process should start with detox, and once that is complete; you should be attending a residential program, followed by aftercare treatment. There is a higher rate of drug abuse among LGBTQ people when compared to the rest of the general population across the United States. Roughly 20 to 30% of the LGBTQ community will suffer from some type of substance abuse problem. Some of the drug rehab centers or mental health programs in New Mexico may provide LGBTQ specific programs, which would be counseling and therapy centered around the problems that LGBTQ people do face. When you are choosing a drug treatment center in the state, you should be considering the programs that will meet your needs surrounding your addiction.
