Drug & Alcohol Addiction Services for the LGBTQ Community in Pennsylvania

Anyone within the LGBTQ community in Pennsylvania who is struggling with a drug or alcohol addiction, and requires treatment, should be reaching out for help through local treatment programs. The rate of substance abuse among LGBTQ people is much higher than the general population. Roughly 20 to 30% of people who identify as LGBTQ will struggle with some type of substance use disorder and other mental health issues. There are many reasons why someone would choose to abuse drugs and alcohol. For example, the addict could have gone through some type of emotional or physical trauma or was the victim of sexual assault. In other circumstances, they may have started to abuse drugs because of boredom, and it simply started with casual drug use. Some of the drug treatments services or local mental health programs may offer LGBTQ specific treatment, such as counseling and therapy, specifically for members of this community. It is important to find the right type of help and attend a drug rehab program that will meet your treatment needs.
