Drug treatment programs and services within the state of Rhode Island may include some programs that would offer LGBTQ specific treatment options. This type of treatment service would be centered around the problems that many LGBTQ people do face throughout daily life. Some of these issues do lead to high levels of stress, which can cause a substance use disorder to develop. When choosing a drug treatment program in the state, you should be considering all your options. Both state-funded and private treatment services are available throughout Rhode Island. The LGBTQ community does have a higher rate of drug abuse than the rest of the general population within the United States. For example, roughly 20 to 30% of the LGBTQ people in the United States will have a substance use disorder. Drug rehab programs in the state will include inpatient and outpatient services, along with all the proper detox programs for severe withdrawal symptoms. Drugs such as alcohol, cocaine, amphetamines, and opioids, are commonly abused and can cause serious addictions.
