Drug & Alcohol Addiction Services for the LGBTQ Community in Wyoming

Drug and alcohol addiction affects many members of the LGBTQ community who are living within the state of Wyoming. There are various reasons why anyone would choose to abuse drugs and alcohol. LGBTQ people do have a higher rate of drug abuse, than the rest of the general population. Roughly 20 to 30% of the LGBTQ community throughout the United States will suffer from a substance use disorder and only 9% of the general population. Unfortunately, like anyone else, all types of drugs and alcohol do end up being abused. Alcohol and cocaine are commonly mixed together, and for example; gay men are 12 times more likely to abuse amphetamines and nine times more likely to abuse heroin. When you are searching for a drug treatment program in the state, you should be considering the treatment resources that will meet your treatment needs. For example, there may be some drug rehab centers in the state, which would provide LGBTQ specific treatment services. Essentially, this could be counseling and therapy centered around the specific problem LGBTQ people do struggle with, which does lead to addiction.
