Drug & Alcohol Extended Care Services in California

Substance abuse is a devastating problem and requires extensive treatment and help. Most recovering addicts will attend some type of aftercare program when they finish treatment. Extended care programs in California are any number of different options. For example, sober living homes are common live-in services where the client can re-build his or her life. They have access to continuous support, community involvement, find work, and build new relationships. More importantly, work on their sobriety, and learn more ways to abstain from drugs or alcohol. Outpatient programs also provide extended care service. The client attends the program daily, and this could still be the outpatient treatment center they went to for the initial treatment. Peer support groups in California are found all throughout the state, in most towns and cities. These are often 12-step programs and are the most recognized form of extended care for addiction.
