Struggling with a drug or alcohol addiction is not easy, and many addicts do not always ask for help. When you do reach out for treatment, the rehabilitation process takes time. Upon completing drug rehabilitation at one of the different programs in Oregon, you should be considering extended care programs. Aftercare treatment helps you continue to work on your sobriety, and build a new life. Most addicts lose a lot because of their addiction and need the time to gain it all back. Extended care services can be gotten through outpatient treatment centers. Once you have completed an outpatient drug rehab program, there are options for aftercare services. other options include sober living homes or transitional housing. These are structured environments, where you can make a smooth transition back to society again. The point of extended care is to work on your sobriety and learn new ways to stay sober. Peer support groups are excellent ways to stay connected to sober people. These are large support networks of recovering addicts helping one another.
