Will a person begin to neglect their responsibilities?

Yes, anyone who is consistently abusing drugs or alcohol will begin to neglect some or all the responsibilities in his or her life. This could not be more applicable to a person working with a medical or legal profession. It is not uncommon that people working in these professions will noticeably start to avoid some of the responsibilities within their job. Some of these responsibilities could also be the direct cause of their stress or anxiety, which is also why they are using drugs or alcohol and avoiding these responsibilities.
