Drug & Alcohol Rehab Centers for Medical and Legal Professionals in Maine

Unfortunately, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration website directory do not list any programs throughout the state that can help medical or legal professionals who are struggling with addiction. Within the state of Maine, there are some facilities that can provide the necessary services to these individuals, but many clients may have to search out of state for the right kind of help. Drug treatment is typically the best solution to help an addict, as it can ensure they are properly detoxed off the drugs or alcohol, and effectively rehabilitated.

How quickly can substance abuse progress into an addiction?

This is primarily dependent upon the individual; each person who uses drugs will experience it differently from the next person. Addiction can take hold either very quickly, or it can happen over a prolonged period of time. Most addicts, once they have found a drug they like that provides the relief they need, will either use more of it or stay at the same amount for long periods of time. The other factor in all of this is the physical dependency to drugs, which will cause a person to become more addicted than what they originally were. It is not uncommon for some medical and legal professionals who are struggling with addiction be physically dependent upon a substance and require unique forms of treatment.
