Co-occurring disorders are defined as someone being diagnosed with a mental illness and a substance abuse disorder. For example, opioid addiction and PTSD are common problems for veterans and first responders in the state and throughout the United States. After a serious incident or even an injury, someone can suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder, and this can lead to the prescription of opioids or even benzodiazepines. These types of drugs are highly addictive and can be abused to cope with emotional and physical pain. Drug rehab services in Maine will help people who are struggling with a co-occurring disorder such as this. The detox programs in Maine can ensure a patient is safely withdrawn off the drugs they are taking and can get the proper counseling and help they need. Both inpatient and outpatient drug rehabilitation programs within the state provide services such as these. Anyone struggling with a co-occurring disorder should reach out for help right away because the problem will only become worse.

This was 15 years ago. Since then, Marcel has built two of the largest websites in the U.S. and Canada which reach and help millions of people each year. He is an author and a leader in the field of drug and alcohol addiction. His main focus is threefold: education, prevention and rehabilitation. To this day, he still strives to be at the forefront of technology in order to help more and more people. He is a Licensed Drug and Alcohol Treatment Specialist graduate with Honours of Stratford Career Institute.
