Drug & Alcohol Rehab Centers Providing Services for Persons with Co-Occurring Disorders in Vermont

Formerly known as a duel diagnosis or duel disorder, co-occurring disorders refer to a person being diagnosed with a mental illness and a substance abuse disorder. This is a common problem in the state of Vermont, and for many individuals, this is an issue that they may have been struggling with most of his or her life. The proper treatment for a co-occurring disorder will involve inpatient or outpatient drug rehab, whether it is for a long-term or short-term time frame. The treatment process will involve detox and proper rehabilitation for mental illness and addiction. Many addicts who are diagnosed with a mental illness in Vermont will be mixing the prescribed medications with the illegal street drugs they are abusing. This can be a dangerous combination and will require help right away, otherwise, an overdose may occur. Preventing drug overdose is important, and unfortunately, more and more people each year die throughout the country and in Vermont because of mixing certain drugs.
