For many families in Washington D.C., they are witnessing a loved one battle drug addiction. Unfortunately, they may not understand what is happening. Once they get this person into a drug treatment center. They too would need therapy and counseling to help them. The family must work through their own issues and the things they are struggling with. Once family members understand addiction, they can better support their loved ones. Family services at some of the drug rehab centers in DC include counseling and therapy. Despite a large number of people working and living within Washington D.C., there are numerous services to help treat all types of addiction and the many problems that are associated with it. Family members going through these types of problems can also access counseling and therapy programs for people affected by addiction. Drug and alcohol addiction impacts families in various ways, and common counseling programs will not work for everyone. It is important that families locate the best options for their problems, and find a service they are comfortable with.

How do families find effective treatment programs?

Family assessments through local health services can help one locate the necessary counseling and support. It can be hard to find the right kind of help, as there may be many different options to choose from. Through Internet searches, there can be numerous options that pop up, some are state-funded services through state health services, and others are private operations within the state. In many situations, state-operated health care can cover the treatment for a family.

Marcel Gemme has been helping people struggling with addiction for over 19 years. He first started as an intake counselor for a drug rehabilitation center in 2000. During his 5 years as an intake counselor, he helped many addicts get the treatment they needed. He also dealt with the families and friends of those people; he saw first-hand how much strain addiction puts on a family and how it can tear relationships apart. With drug and alcohol problems constantly on the rise in the United States and Canada, he decided to use the Internet as a way to educate and help many more people in both those countries. This was 15 years ago. Since then, Marcel has built two of the largest websites in the U.S. and Canada which reach and help millions of people each year. He is an author and a leader in the field of drug and alcohol addiction. His main focus is threefold: education, prevention and rehabilitation. To this day, he still strives to be at the forefront of technology in order to help more and more people. He is a Licensed Drug and Alcohol Treatment Specialist graduate with Honours of Stratford Career Institute. Marcel has also received a certificate from Harvard for completing a course entitled The Opioid Crisis in America and a certificate from The University of Adelaide for completing a course entitled AddictionX: Managing Addiction: A Framework for Succesful Treatment.
