Drug and alcohol abuse becomes a family affair. For many families in Illinois watching a loved one struggle with addiction is difficult. They may not understand what is happening, or how they can help. Once a family is able to get their loved one to treatment. They too should make an effort to receive some type of therapy. Family services at drug rehab centers can include different things. This could be counseling and therapy for family members. There are family and couples’ therapy, or multiple family group therapies. Family support groups are also a good idea, along with education sessions. When family members receive the right help, they will better understand the addiction. Substance abuse is a dangerous problem for anyone. Some drug treatment programs can help pregnant women who are addicted to drugs. This is a specialized form of treatment for them. The proper medical staff is available to help them through treatment. And protect the mother and her child.

Can families receive initial assessments?

Yes, the assessment process is effective for anyone who is searching for proper help and counseling. Families can sit down with qualified counselors, most of who specialize in family counseling. The assessment process can determine what type of counseling or therapy is required, where it can be accessed, and how long will it be needed. This type of assessment option can also help families find the proper drug treatment programs for their loved ones who may be struggling with addiction or chemical dependencies.
