Drug and alcohol abuse is a problem that can affect anyone. For many families living in Oregon, there are situations where kids are involved. This means that children are growing up in homes with drug-addicted parents. In fact, SAMHSA reported that one out of eight kids will have at least one parent addicted to drugs this past year. When parents need help, they may be afraid to ask for it. Much of this is because they fear to have their kids taken away. This does not happen in every case, there are some factors considered. In some states, it is required that the child attend drug rehab with the parent. Family therapy is important and will address the underlying issues connected to the addiction. Family therapy will also help build a stronger foundation and bring the family closer together. Some drug rehab centers in Oregon will do this along with parental education. The type of accommodation offered to parents is different for each drug treatment center.
