Substance abuse is a dangerous problem and does affect many families living in Vermont. When parents with kids are abusing drugs, it places the kids in a difficult situation. The kids are growing up seeing this drug abuse as being ok. The likelihood of them abusing drugs when they grow up increases. Some of the drug rehab centers in Vermont may have the ability to accommodate drug-addicted parents with kids. This may involve the kids going to treatment with the parents. However, the level of accommodation at each program will not all be the same. Some treatment centers may only offer daycare. Or they may want the extended family to monitor the children. In some cases, residential drug rehab centers will have beds available for a client's child. During family therapy, the involvement of the children is important. It does help resolve many of the underlying issues connected to the addiction.
