Drug and Alcohol Rehab Centers with Language-Specific Services in Alaska

Much of the population in Alaska is concentrated in the larger cities and towns. Access to drug treatment programs is often only available within these cities and towns. A language-specific rehabilitation program involves help for Spanish speaking people and or deaf/hard of hearing. The Spanish speaking population in Alaska is around 7% of the total population. Spanish speaking drug treatment centers would be programs providing services in Spanish. It is difficult where English is not the first language, and speaking to a counselor in English would prove challenging. Substance abuse for the deaf/hearing impaired is a unique challenge. Drug rehab centers who help people with disabilities meet particular requirements. In this case, they would use American Sign Language, through interpreters and as part of their counseling. The primary focus is communication and ensuring the client can effectively communicate what is going on. More visual therapy would be used, but American Sign Language would be the primary tool.
