Elk County is a county that is found in the state of Pennsylvania. The county seat is Ridgway. It is home to an estimated population of around 29,000 people as of 2019 according to the US Census Bureau, making it one of the smallest counties in the state by population. But regardless of this fact, the area has still struggled with things like drug addiction and overdose like much of the state has for many years now. In 2019 there were 35.1 drug deaths for every 100,000 residents of the state according to a report from America’s Health Rankings, a rate which is one of the highest in the nation for any state that year. It shows only a glimpse of how many people are not getting the help they need from drug and alcohol rehabilitation and detox services. Every single death was someone that could have been saved if they had gotten proper help before it was too late. But even more people are currently struggling with addiction and are destined to become the next statistic unless they get help soon. This is why you must intervene if the person is using drugs and is unwilling to get help. Never listen to advice telling you to wait for the person to be ready. This is how people die. Act now before it is too late and intervene if necessary.
