Escambia County is a county that can be found in the state of Florida. It is home to an estimated population of around 318,000 people as of 2019 according to the United States Census Bureau. This makes it one of the smaller counties in the state by population. But being less populated does not offer the protection that it once used to from serious drug addiction and overdose problems, something that the entire state of Florida has struggled with since the drug epidemic began spreading across America’s in the early 2000s. From 2015 to 2017 there were 159 drug deaths in Escambia County according to County Health Rankings and Roadmaps. This is still a very high rate for a county of its size. Every drug death was a life that potentially could have been saved if they had gotten the right kind of help from drug and alcohol rehabilitation and detox services. But this doesn’t mean that the area’s treatment system is to blame for these deaths, since many people never even made it into treatment before accidentally overdosing and losing their lives to drugs. This is why you should never ignore signs of drug use in a loved one. Act before it is too late.
