Detox and Rehabilitation Services for Drug & Alcohol Abuse in Franklin County, New York

Franklin County has a definite drug problem, as does the state of New York as a whole. Addiction can be treated given one is provided with the correct drug rehab services. Those available in Franklin County include assessment services, residential & outpatient programs, services for adolescents and several addiction meetings, such as AA, NA and Alanon meetings.

The Opioid Crisis in Franklin County

The opioid epidemic is very real and present in Franklin County. There are unfortunately not many places in New York that has been spared of this deadly issue. In 2018, there were 247 people admitted to a substance abuse treatment certified by the Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS). This number is very high, and it only considers those addicted to opioids, but there are many other abused drugs.

The Franklin County Prevention Task Force

This Task Force was created in 2004 to tackle the issues of underage substance abuse and risky behavior. It consists of local courts, schools, law enforcement, and government. Throughout the years, they have expanded and have now created prevention strategies to educate the community. In 2014, they put together prevention and education activities to address the rise in opioid abuse and overdoses.

STOP-DWI of Franklin County

The Special Traffic Options Program for Driving While Impaired (STOP-DWI) was created in 1981 to help promote DWI prevention as a priority and to help reduce traffic crashes that were caused by alcohol and other drugs and that resulted in injuries and fatalities. It is fully funded by the fines paid by individuals convicted of drunk driving.

During his 5 years as an intake counselor, he helped many addicts get the treatment they needed. Marcel has also received a certificate from Harvard for completing a course entitled The Opioid Crisis in America and a certificate from The University of Adelaide for completing a course entitled AddictionX: Managing Addiction: A Framework for Succesful Treatment.
