Addicted.org provides an extensive database directory service of these programs and other treatment services. When you contact one of our addiction professionals, we help you find a faith-based program that meets your treatment and recovery goals.

Christian drug rehab is similar to the goals of other rehab facilities. Our professionals help narrow the search. In addition, we can help you determine if Christian treatment is the best option for your substance use and addiction.

TIPS: If you're looking for Christian drug rehab

  • Contact the local church or congregation leader for support and strength during this difficult time.
  • Contact a substance abuse professional at Addicted.org to see what resources are available in your area that fit your spiritual needs.
  • Encourage the individual struggling to attend religious services, but do not force them or make them wrong for not going. This could force them away
  • Contact a medical professional before stopping heavy substance use because withdrawal from alcohol and certain drugs can be life-threatening.

Christian Substance Abuse Treatment Centers in Georgia and Long-Term Recovery

Drug and alcohol addiction impact many families and individuals in Georgia. Like many other states, the issues with opioids have been increasing. According to the Drug Surveillance Unit, opioid-involved overdose deaths have been rapidly increasing in Georgia since 2010. The problem is driven largely by increased use and misuse of prescription opioids like Oxycodone and Hydrocodone. In 2013, illicit opioids like heroin and fentanyl drove the sharp increase in opioid-involved overdose deaths. Per the updated memo to statewide partners regarding suspected drug overdose—there has been a 4.4% average weekly increase in opioid-involved visits to the emergency department.

Additionally, there has been a 3.7% average weekly increase in heroin-involved visits. Christian drug and alcohol treatment centers routinely treat people who are addicted to heroin and prescription pain medication. Most people who become addicted to pain medication gradually go to heroin as it is a cheaper alternative. There is a significant benefit to attending a Christian drug and alcohol treatment center because of long-term support. For example, this includes 12-step meetings, peer support groups, and faith-based peer support. Long-term recovery is important, and aftercare services help with this.

Overall, the rehabilitation process is the same beginning with detox, whether a medical detox provider or a standard detox provider. However, detox should not be considered the only approach used for treatment. Following detox, the next step with treatment involved attending a residential or outpatient treatment center. Inpatient Christian programs tend to provide better options for treatment and recovery. However, an outpatient treatment center is also effective and does help addicts that are still working and have family support.

Marcel Gemme has been helping people struggling with addiction for over 19 years. He first started as an intake counselor for a drug rehabilitation center in 2000. During his 5 years as an intake counselor, he helped many addicts get the treatment they needed. He also dealt with the families and friends of those people; he saw first-hand how much strain addiction puts on a family and how it can tear relationships apart. With drug and alcohol problems constantly on the rise in the United States and Canada, he decided to use the Internet as a way to educate and help many more people in both those countries. This was 15 years ago. Since then, Marcel has built two of the largest websites in the U.S. and Canada which reach and help millions of people each year. He is an author and a leader in the field of drug and alcohol addiction. His main focus is threefold: education, prevention and rehabilitation. To this day, he still strives to be at the forefront of technology in order to help more and more people. He is a Licensed Drug and Alcohol Treatment Specialist graduate with Honours of Stratford Career Institute. More Information

Michael Leach is a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, who has over 5 years of experience working in the field of addiction. He spent his career working under the board-certified Addictionologist Dr. Rohit Adi. His experience includes working with families during their loved one’s stay in treatment, helping those with substance abuse issues find treatment, and teaching life skills to patients in a recovery atmosphere. Though he has worked in many different areas of rehabilitation, the majority of his time was spent working one on one with patients who were actively withdrawing from drugs. Withdrawal and the fear of going through it is one biggest reason why an addict continues to use and can be the most difficult part of the rehabilitation process. His experience in the withdrawal atmosphere has taught him that regardless of what approach a person takes to get off drugs, there are always mental and emotional obstacles that need to be overcome. He believes having someone there to help a person through these obstacles can make all the difference during the withdrawal process.
