Drug Treatment Facilities in Grayson County, Virginia

Last updated: Tuesday, 09, November 2021

Grayson County has been struggling with substance abuse issues and their consequences for several years now. This type of problem has caused an important amount of damage within the community, and it is something that should always be taken seriously. These next statistics will be giving us a better idea of the substance abuse problem in the area, focusing on alcohol abuse. For instance, according to County Health Rankings, excessive drinking was reported by 16% of the county's adult population in 2017, which includes heavy or binge drinking. Alcohol abuse has also caused fatalities, with 6 alcohol-impaired driving deaths between 2014-2018, accounting for half the driving deaths that occurred in this time period. This kind of casualty can be prevented quite easily; simply put, if someone is going out and they know they will be drinking, they should plan ahead and already have a way to get home safely. Additionally, if a person hosts a party and serves alcohol, they should ensure that when their guests leave, they have plans to get home safely, whether it be by having a designated driver or calling a taxi. Evidently, if someone is struggling with an addiction to drugs and/or alcohol, it is extremely important that they seek treatment. Certain people may feel reluctant when looking for a program, for different reasons. For example, a woman may not feel comfortable attending treatment with men, as they may feel it could act as a distraction. Luckily, there are treatment programs for women only that can help those who wish to be around other women. This can give them a chance to be in an environment where they can be around women who are going through similar struggles, and in which they can focus solely on their recovery. Everyone deserves to get the help they need to overcome their addiction.
