Frequently Asked Questions

Should you seek treatment in Independence, or look further away?

Independence is part of the Kansas City metro, so I look at the two together. Locally you have the lighter end, which is fine for someone with steady footing at home. The more intensive care is about 11 miles away across the metro, including free care and options for parents. Eleven miles is an easy trip, so access is not your problem. But 11 miles across a metro is barely any distance from your environment. If the people and places tied to your using are in the Independence and KC area, a bed across town may leave you too close to the pull, and staying near is the trap. For that person I would look at a program further out of the metro. If the issue is more contained, use what is nearby and keep the long trip for when the environment is the real problem.
