TIPS: If you're looking for Christian drug rehab

  • Contact the local church or congregation leader for support and strength during this difficult time.
  • Contact a substance abuse professional at Addicted.org to see what resources are available in your area that fit your spiritual needs.
  • Encourage the individual struggling to attend religious services, but do not force them or make them wrong for not going. This could force them away
  • Contact a medical professional before stopping heavy substance use because withdrawal from alcohol and certain drugs can be life-threatening.

Christian Drug Rehab Centers in Indiana

Long-term recovery is essential, and there are significant benefits to attending Christian-based drug and alcohol treatment programs. Twelve-step support groups and faith-based support groups are integral parts of Christian-based programs and help with aftercare and maintaining sobriety after treatment. People struggling with addiction face significant problems and barriers, and the risk of overdose is one of them. According to Indiana Department of Health, drug overdose deaths in the state have been on the rise for almost two decades. Indiana reached its highest age-adjusted drug overdose rate at 26.6 per 100,000, which was a 4% increase from 2018.

In 2017, Indiana had over 1,800 drug overdose deaths, averaging five deaths per day. The primary driver of overdose deaths is opioids, as three out of five residents in the state who die from an overdose each day involve an opioid. Christian drug and alcohol treatment programs routinely treat people struggling with addiction. Unfortunately, the state has placed in the top half of U.S states for the highest drug overdose death rate since 2013. When searching for Christian-based drug and alcohol treatment programs, finding one that treats the addiction and meets other recovery needs is important.

Christian drug and alcohol treatment centers operate out of residential or outpatient treatment centers and support groups. Residential rehabilitation is usually the better option because more services are offered to the addict and his family. Outpatient drug and alcohol treatment centers are also effective and excellent options for long-term support and aftercare. Outpatient Christian-based treatment programs provide different treatment options and methodologies to help addicts and their families.

More Information

Michael Leach is a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, who has over 5 years of experience working in the field of addiction. He spent his career working under the board-certified Addictionologist Dr. Rohit Adi. His experience includes working with families during their loved one’s stay in treatment, helping those with substance abuse issues find treatment, and teaching life skills to patients in a recovery atmosphere. Though he has worked in many different areas of rehabilitation, the majority of his time was spent working one on one with patients who were actively withdrawing from drugs. Withdrawal and the fear of going through it is one biggest reason why an addict continues to use and can be the most difficult part of the rehabilitation process. His experience in the withdrawal atmosphere has taught him that regardless of what approach a person takes to get off drugs, there are always mental and emotional obstacles that need to be overcome. He believes having someone there to help a person through these obstacles can make all the difference during the withdrawal process.
