The vast majority of intensive outpatient drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs operating within the state of Kentucky are located within the major cities such as Louisville and Lexington. The intensive outpatient treatment centers who are listed on the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration directory include a list of 100 locations within the state. The intensive outpatient treatment centers are situated throughout the various counties in Kentucky. How are varying age groups treated within intensive outpatient centers?

Each age group will present a different challenge for people working at intensive outpatient centers. Older adults or elderly individuals battling addiction will face unique challenges, for example, which also apply to teens and adults. Some intensive outpatient programs within the state will only treat certain age groups, but these are age specific programs. Other intensive outpatient centers will be capable of helping addicts of all ages, and others may not treat adolescents. A person's age is taken into consideration when they are attending treatment, as each group will respond differently to therapy.
