How does someone become motivated to get help?

It can be difficult to motivate some addicts to get help, and in many cases, there would be an intervention involved where family and friends work together to help the addict become convinced to get help. An addict's motivation to get help will be very minimal, but there are some rare cases where an addict will do whatever it takes to get help. Motivating addicts to go to treatment will involve helping them understand what his or her addiction has done to their lives, and how it will continue to go if they do not get the help they need.
