When searching for Christian-based drug rehab in IA and an alcohol treatment program, an addiction assessment is a good place to begin. The purpose of an assessment is to determine the extent of addiction and what treatment options provide the best help. Some of the common treatment options for Christian programs include detox, individual and group counseling, and evidence-based approaches. Patients will also have access to education and spiritual principles, developing a stronger relationship with God, religious studies, participation in meditation and prayer, relapse prevention, and aftercare support. Christian-based treatment is a well-rounded process because it helps an addict spiritually, physically, and mentally.

TIPS: If you're looking for Christian drug rehab

  • Contact the local church or congregation leader for support and strength during this difficult time.
  • Contact a substance abuse professional at Addicted.org to see what resources are available in your area that fit your spiritual needs.
  • Encourage the individual struggling to attend religious services, but do not force them or make them wrong for not going. This could force them away
  • Contact a medical professional before stopping heavy substance use because withdrawal from alcohol and certain drugs can be life-threatening.

Christian Substance Abuse Treatment in Iowa and Long-Term Recovery

Christian drug and alcohol treatment programs in Iowa provide excellent access to long-term recovery groups like 12-step meetings, faith-based groups, and other peer support groups. Aftercare is important, and maintaining a connection with other sober people contributes to long-term recovery. Whether the program is residential or outpatient, it does help patients with aftercare support and working on long-term sobriety. Substance abuse and addiction impact many families and individuals that are living in Iowa. According to the Iowa Drug Control Strategy, the state’s rate of binge drinking significantly exceeds the U.S average. Methamphetamine is being smuggled in larger quantities, and the purest forms of meth have been reported in the state.

Across Iowa, there have been recorded levels of meth use and meth-related crime. Iowa authorities also report increasing amounts of more potent and potentially lethal illicit opioids. Christian drug and alcohol treatment programs in Iowa treat all forms of addiction and help with aftercare support and recovery. Addicts struggling with opioid addiction require a medical detox to manage withdrawal cravings and symptoms. Standard detox programs treat most forms of street drug abuse. Detox is an important step and cannot be avoided. However, many addicts believe that detox is the only option, and they can maintain their sobriety after detox; unfortunately, this is not always possible.

The state of Iowa ranks 47th among all U.S states in the rate of illicit drug use. Christian drug treatment programs are excellent options for all types of addiction. Well-rounded rehabilitation is important, and these programs focus on spiritual, physical, and psychological rehabilitation. Adults and youth who do not receive addiction treatment slide deeper into the problem, and it becomes difficult to overcome addiction and maintain sobriety successfully.

Michael Leach is a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, who has over 5 years of experience working in the field of addiction. He spent his career working under the board-certified Addictionologist Dr. Rohit Adi. His experience includes working with families during their loved one’s stay in treatment, helping those with substance abuse issues find treatment, and teaching life skills to patients in a recovery atmosphere. Though he has worked in many different areas of rehabilitation, the majority of his time was spent working one on one with patients who were actively withdrawing from drugs. Withdrawal and the fear of going through it is one biggest reason why an addict continues to use and can be the most difficult part of the rehabilitation process. His experience in the withdrawal atmosphere has taught him that regardless of what approach a person takes to get off drugs, there are always mental and emotional obstacles that need to be overcome. He believes having someone there to help a person through these obstacles can make all the difference during the withdrawal process.
