LSD Rehab Centers and Detox Programs in New York

All throughout the state of New York, countless people struggle with addiction and substance abuse problems. LSD is still widely used by many and is a common recreational drug. LSD will induce intense and vivid hallucinations, which can become habit-forming, and this is why the drug became popular. The prolonged use of LSD will create a psychological dependency, and the better experience they have with the drug, the more likely they are to continually abuse it. LSD can also cause bad experiences, and this does tend to deter people from using it again.

New York Hallucinogenic Drug Abuse and LSD

According to the New York City Drug Use Patterns and Trends for 2017, during that year, there were close to 200 emergency department visits involving psychoactive drugs. Per the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), hallucinogenic drugs alter a person's awareness of their surroundings. The pills also change the person's thoughts and feelings. There are classic hallucinogenic drugs, such as LSD, and there are dissociative drugs, such as PCP. LSD is one of the most powerful mind-altering chemicals and is made from lysergic acid, which is a fungus found on rye and other grains. The drug is most commonly taken orally in the form of tablets, droplets, or blotter paper. Because of how small the doses are, it is difficult to know what the potency is.

Not knowing the dosage being consumed does increase the risk of a dangerous psychoactive experience. Every individual reacts to LSD differently, and too much LSD does create a dissociation and alienation from one's self. Within the United States, LSD is a Schedule 1 controlled substance. LSD is not a widely used drug across New York State. When the drug is used it does not cause withdrawal symptoms, yet the person could experience flashbacks long after stopping their LSD use. The abuse of hallucinogenic drugs is often part of a more significant drug problem requiring treatment. Both outpatient and inpatient drug rehab centers in New York State are effective with treating LSD abuse, and the hallucinogenic drug addiction.
