Drug and Alcohol Intervention Services in Mississippi

Drug and alcohol addiction causes a powerful mental, emotional, and physical craving. Addicts who have been abusing drugs for many years become emotionally consumed by the substance they are using. Because of this, it becomes difficult for the family or friends to speak to them about their addiction. Many family members will avoid confrontation and will not approach the subject of substance abuse treatment or addiction. Unfortunately, the substance abuse problem becomes worse, and something terrible things may occur. Early intervention is an intervention done with a professional and is the best approach. Intervention is done within a controlled setting and helps a drug-addicted person understand the importance of treatment. Most families in Mississippi who are searching for certified interventionists will often hire a nationwide intervention group.

Professional interventionists are not always available in every community or city within the state. However, interventionists that travel to the family are often more readily available. Substance abuse in Mississippi has impacted many parts of the state, especially with opioids and prescription drugs. Per the Mississippi Drug Epidemic Surveillance System, on average, in 2017, a person died nearly every day in the state from a drug overdose. The total number of drug overdose deaths declined slightly from 2016 to 2017. However, the number of overdose deaths involving heroin and fentanyl, along with amphetamines, cocaine, and benzodiazepines, increased. Out of all the counties in Mississippi, except for Jefferson County, reported drug overdose deaths from 2011 to 2017. It is never too late or too soon to organize an intervention. The intervention process places the family back in control again and helps them save the life of their loved one.
