Christian Drug Rehab in Missouri and Spiritual Healing

Spiritual healing is the main component of Christian-based drug and alcohol treatment centers. Improving your faith repairs your spiritual health, which is essential to a successful recovery. Countless people struggling with addiction want to rekindle their spirituality and use this as part of treatment. Christian treatment programs take a well-rounded approach and focus on healing the mind, body, and spirit. A Christian drug rehab center in Missouri aims to help the individual experience the peace and love of grace through a personal connection with God and Christ. Christian programs operate as either residential or outpatient centers, and it is important to determine what method is the best approach.

Substance abuse and addiction impact many families and individuals that live in Missouri. According to the Missouri Department of Mental Health, approximately 380,000 residents struggle with a substance use disorder. Roughly 17,500 of them are aged between 12 and 17. Among the 482,000 veterans living in the state, an estimated 5.9% had a substance use disorder. At the end of 2018, approximately 39,000 people had received treatment, and over 3,000 had used recovery support programs. Substance abuse treatment is the only effective way to help an addict overcome addiction.

The rehabilitation process with a Christian-based program is no different than any other treatment center. The first step is detox, which could be a medical or standard detox provider. Detox should not be considered the only approach to treatment, and the next step involves attending a residential or outpatient drug treatment center. Aftercare support is also essential, and this involves 12-step support groups, faith-based support groups, and other forms of peer support. Remaining connected to other sober people is essential for long-term recovery.

Michael Leach is a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, who has over 5 years of experience working in the field of addiction. He spent his career working under the board-certified Addictionologist Dr. Rohit Adi. His experience includes working with families during their loved one’s stay in treatment, helping those with substance abuse issues find treatment, and teaching life skills to patients in a recovery atmosphere. Though he has worked in many different areas of rehabilitation, the majority of his time was spent working one on one with patients who were actively withdrawing from drugs. Withdrawal and the fear of going through it is one biggest reason why an addict continues to use and can be the most difficult part of the rehabilitation process. His experience in the withdrawal atmosphere has taught him that regardless of what approach a person takes to get off drugs, there are always mental and emotional obstacles that need to be overcome. He believes having someone there to help a person through these obstacles can make all the difference during the withdrawal process.
